To fulfill our purpose, the Indian-American Leadership Initiative offers three integrated program strategies:
SUPPORT AND CONNECT INDIAN-AMERICAN DEMOCRATS NATIONALLY — The Indian-American Democratic Network connects all Indian-American Democrats across the country, making it easy for them to share political successes and failures on the campaign trail, generate innovative and progressive ideas, and act collaboratively when possible.
PROMOTE INDIAN-AMERICAN DEMOCRATS WITHIN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY — The Indian-American Leadership Initiative identifies and promotes Indian-Americans within both the state and national Democratic Party and progressive organizations.
INVEST IN INDIAN-AMERICAN DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES — In recent years, more and more Indian-Americans are running as Democrats across the country. In 1994, three Indian-Americans ran for Congress. This year, more than a dozen Indian-Americans Democrats are contesting races. This year alone, they are running for the states house in Delaware, Minnesota, Maryland, Kansas, Iowa, and Ohio. In all instances, these are serious candidates with serious credentials and good resources. But, more resources can make the difference and level the playing field, especially against Republicans.
