Does Iowa suggest that smear politics now backfires?

Romney spent millions in negative campaign ads and he still lost badly. There are reports that Romney lost precisely because he went negative and lost votes because people are tired of smear politics.

Are the days of smear over and will it now backfire on candidates that go negative?

I think the day of the negative ad is over. With the internet people can find out anything they want about any candidate and negative ads just seem silly and childish

I hope so as I do not think I can stomach another YEAR of negative attack ads.

Iowa only proves that people aren’t aiming very high when it comes to a candidate. Only the radical party members go out to the caucuses anyway.
